In case you haven't noticed, you can no longer count on a chest dropping a gold item if it produces a gold for someone else. I got two gold items in a row last night during Vizzunah Square, while others who came right behind me got purple items.

Just wanted to let you all know.

then whats the point of buying expensive obsidian keys if the chests arent more likely to give u gold items?

I forgot about this until yesterday. I was helping my boyfriend get through the game, he opens a chest to reveal a perfect gold bow. I have no keys, so he gives me one. I open it and get a purple non-max scythe with no mods at all.

I sat in a corner and weeped for awhile.

I thought it was pretty funny when only one person got a purple. Everyone else got a rare from that FoW chest.

can i get a refund on the 40k i spent in obsidian keys so i can spend the money on more profitable and less random ventures?

No, when you gamble sometimes you loose.

If you want a sure way to get lots of money go ebay. Otherwise drops are random, chests are random, and you can not always predict market trends.

The rate of Gold to Purple chests haven't changed in my testings, just how and when they appear.

Chest 1 might give Player 1 a gold and player 2 a purple, and Chest 2 might give Player 1 a Purple and player 2 a Gold - Exactly the same as if Chest 1 droped golds for both of them and Chest 2 dropped purples for both.

All it stops really is Chest Leeching. People that travel in groups to make sure the chests they open are never purple, in my example Player 2 would not have opened chest 2 before now and saved his key - and this of course was never the goal of chests in the game - it is SUPPOSED to be a chance between purple or gold not something you know.

Its so unfair for people with less luck? Luck is just that, luck. Its RANDOM people.
Anyway, I like this. No more standing around a chest staring at it waiting for somebody to "test it," which was pretty annoying.

i love the randomness of chests now. i was usually the only person in a chest run group whod open the majority of chests first anyways. that stupid /roll 100 was just so frustrating. by the time everyone would roll [everyone, who am i kidding, there would always be like 2-3 people not rolling] i could have checked another 2 chests. and a major pet peeve of mine, when someone who didnt check a chest would leave right after getting a gold item. the randomness of chests effectively eliminates "leechers" which is, um... awesome.

actually they are just as likely to give you gold drops now because it used to be it was either a gold or purple chest for everyone. Now its gold or purple individually, this really doesnt change anything except for the fact that you cant leech off everyone else anymroe to see if its a gold chest.

Agreed. Random is the way too go. It's just like the auto-assignment of monster drops. Once it's random, there won't be complaints about player unfairness, such as who wasn't willing to take their turn opening chests. No, there's not much to gripe against except fate. But on the other hand... I do have crappy luck most of the time... oh well.

well personally, i dislike this update. i'm not a chest runner and i dont leech at all, but since playing through nightfall [just arrived in the realm of torment] i have gotten 2 golds from around 50 chests from just playing through the game.... while my friend who i've been playing through the game with has got multiple golds in succession.
i hope my luck is about to change because it's really starting to get me down...

I suppose you should stop opening chests then if you are having such a hard ime with the new update? Chests are random, and that is how they should be.

As for me, I stopped getting keys. Every once and a while I'll buy a few if I'm going farming in Sorrow's, because I usually make back what I spent.

Other than that, I only use keys is they've been dropped by monsters.

Yes, that reminds me of the times when everyone would stand around a chest and wait for someone to open it, because they're all too cheap to just try their luck. lol, always a funny thing to watch.
